This is the story of what happens when a music festival comes to Pitkirtly and as well as having to run the gauntlet of unaccompanied folk singing in the Queen of Scots and a ceilidh at the bowling club, the usual suspects find themselves in the middle of a murder investigation that seems to be going horribly wrong, with people being taken away for questioning apparently at random, and other people’s lives being disrupted to such an extent that even the doughnut supply is temporarily in doubt.
It has taken me a bit longer than usual to write this one due to circumstances more or less beyond my control, but I hope it will be fun to read. I drafted the first few chapters in a notebook while still in hospital and then the next few with the laptop balanced precariously on a tray, and I only gradually recovered enough stamina to get myself down to the conservatory to write a sensible amount every day, so at some stages I felt as if I would never get to the end.
However, in the last week I’ve finished this one and have finished the first draft of a different novel I’d been working on for over a year, designed a cover for a small book of short stories, and written a quick 500 word short story over the weekend for a competition, so I think things are approaching what passes for normality around here.
